The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 124 I am for you a faithful Messenger, 125 So keep your duty to Allah and obey me. 126 “And I do not ask from you any fee for it; my reward is only upon the Lord Of The Creation.” 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 “He aided you with cattle and sons.” 133 And gardens and springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 Eventually they gave the lie to him and We destroyed them. Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
