The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do people think that they will be left alone because they say: "We believe," and will not be tested. 2 And certainly We tried those before them, so Allah will certainly know those who are true and He will certainly know the liars. 3 Do those who practise evil think that they will get the better of Us? Evil is their judgment! 4 Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 And whoever strives hard, he strives only for his own soul; most surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above (need of) the worlds. 6 And as for those who attain to faith and do righteous deeds, We shall most certainly efface their [previous] bad deeds, and shall most certainly reward them in accordance with the best that they ever did. 7 We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents, but if they exert pressure on you to associate with Me in My Divinity any that you do not know (to be My associate), do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I shall let you know all that you have done. 8 And those who believe, and do righteous deeds assuredly We shall admit them among the righteous. 9 Then there are among men such as say, "We believe in Allah"; but when they suffer affliction in (the cause of) Allah, they treat men's oppression as if it were the Wrath of Allah! And if help comes (to thee) from thy Lord, they are sure to say, "We have (always) been with you!" Does not Allah know best all that is in the hearts of all creation? 10 And Allah will surely make evident those who believe, and He will surely make evident the hypocrites. 11 The unbelievers say to those who believe: 'Follow our path, and we will carry your sins' Yet they cannot carry even a thing of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 Besides the other burdens that they will have to carry, they will certainly be loaded with the burden of their own sins. They will be questioned on the Day of Judgment about what they had falsely invented. 13
