And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them." 71 Said he: "Do [you really think that] they hear you when you invoke them, 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 He Who feedeth me and giveth me to drink. 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day whereon will profit neither substance nor sons. 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?" 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And all the armies of Iblis. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 "By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error." 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 no loyal friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
