Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 and grant me the power to convey the truth unto those who will come after me, 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 other than Allah? Do they help you or even help themselves' 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 “By oath of Allah, we were indeed in open error.” 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
