Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the winds which carry dust particles, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 and the smooth runners 3 Then those (angels who) distribute blessings by Our command; 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 your ideas are confused. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good. 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith, 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
