And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
