Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 when the earth with all its mountains is lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for on that Day it will be so frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in an exalted garden 22 with clusters of fruit within easy reach. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 Then as to him who shall be vouchsafed his book in his left hand, he shall say: Oh! would that I had not been vouchsafed my book. 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 Would it had been the end! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Roast him in Hell, 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 He would not believe in Allah, the Most Great; 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 and no food except pus 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
