Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 well-placed cushions, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
