Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha'. Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth! 2 Surely We revealed it on a blessed night surely We are ever warning-- 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 at a behest from Ourselves: for, verily, We have always been sending [Our messages of guidance] 5 as a mercy (for the human being) from your Lord. Your Lord is All-hearing and All-knowing. 6 the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them - if you could but grasp it with inner certainty! 7 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, 8 Nay, they are in doubt, they sport. 9 Then wait you for the Day when the sky will bring forth a visible smoke. 10 enveloping people. That will be a grievous scourge. 11 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." 12 How shall they be reminded, and there came to them an Apostle making clear (the truth), 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Surely We will remove the punishment a little, (but) you will surely return (to evil). 15 On the Day whereon We assault them with the greatest assault, verily We shall take vengeance. 16 ۞ And assuredly afore them We proved Fir'awn's people, and there came unto them an apostle honoured. 17 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. 18 and, 'Rise not up against God; behold, I come to you with a clear authority, 19 I have taken refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you should attack me with stones. 20 If you do not believe in me, leave me alone." 21 And he cried unto his Lord, (saying): These are guilty folk. 22 So go forth with My servants by night; surely you will be pursued: 23 "And leave the sea as a furrow (divided): for they are a host (destined) to be drowned." 24 They left how many gardens and fountains, 25 And cornfields and noble places! 26 and pleasant things in which they delighted! 27 Thus it was. And [then] We made another people heirs [to what they had left,] 28 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. 29
