۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
