The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
