The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few from the latter. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
