The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 near to flowing water 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the right. 38
