The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
