The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And those who govern the event, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 And he gathered [his people] and called out 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
