Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,- 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 Warn the men. 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 except the Companions of the Right. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who entered into vain discourses. 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 So the intercession of intercessors shall not avail them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
