The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Rise up and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet is sounded, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 and who still desires more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
