Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and couches raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
