Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Glad for their effort past, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 Goblets set, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
