Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: 2 our Lord is too exalted to have either a wife or son. 3 And that our foolish one has been saying about Allah an excessive transgression. 4 and that “we had thought that men and jinn would never speak a lie about Allah”, 5 'True, there were persons among mankind who took shelter with persons among the Jinns, but they increased them in folly. 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- 9 And we do not know [therefore] whether evil is intended for those on earth or whether their Lord intends for them a right course. 10 ‘And among us some are virtuous and some are the other type; we are split into several branches.’ 11 We know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 and that “when we heard the teaching of the Right Way we came to believe in it; he who believes in His Lord shall have no fear of suffering loss or being subjected to any injustice”; 13 Some of us are obedient while others are wrongdoers; it is the obedient who have found the right path, 14 And as to the deviators, they are fuel of hell: 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 So that We might try them with respect to it; and whoever turns aside from the reminder of his Lord, He will make him enter into an afflicting chastisement: 17 All places of worship are for God; so do not invoke any one with God. 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
