And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By thy life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement, 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
