To those who inherit the earth in succession to its (previous) possessors, is it not a guiding, (lesson) that, if We so willed, We could punish them (too) for their sins, and seal up their hearts so that they could not hear? 100 (Muhammad), such were the stories of the people who lived in (different) towns in the past. We had sent Our Messengers to them with (certain) miracles but the people still did not believe in what they had rejected before. Such is how God seals the hearts of the unbelievers. 101 and in most of them We found no [inner] bond with anything that is right - and most of them We found to be iniquitous indeed. 102 Then We sent after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were unjust toward them. So see how was the end of the corrupters. 103 Moses said: "O Pharaoh, I have been sent by the Lord of all the worlds; 104 duty-bound to say nothing about God but the truth, and I have brought you a clear sign from your Lord. Let the Children of Israel go with me." 105 Said he, 'If thou hast brought a sign, produce it, if thou speakest truly.' 106 At this Moses threw down his staff, and lo, it became a live serpent. 107 And putting his hand in his bosom, withdrew it – so it shone brightly before the beholders. 108
