The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the breath of morning 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 When whither go ye? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
