The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and serried acacias, 29 and spreading shade 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
