And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and the army of satan will all be thrown headlong into hell. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
