Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and believes in the finest, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 seeking only the Face of his Lord, the Most High, 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
