And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He asked them, "Can the idols hear you when you pray to them 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 You and your ancient forefathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 and make me of those who will inherit the Garden of Bliss, 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the (Hell) Fire will be placed in full view of the erring. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
