Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In the high empyrean, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and arranged cushions 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 However, as for him who turns away, being bent on denying the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
