The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
