The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 That “Go to Firaun – he has rebelled.” 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
