Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 in a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
