Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
