And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: "Have you considered what you have been worshipping, 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 Verily they are an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the worlds. 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 He who will cause me to die and bring me back to life; 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And uphold my name with posterity, 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 'By Allah, we were certainly in clear error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
