The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man. 3 and taught him its pronunciation. 4 The sun and moon rotate in a predestined orbit. 5 And the plants and the trees prostrate (for Him). 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 so that you should not transgress the measure. 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits, date-palms producing sheathed fruit-stalks (enclosing dates). 11 Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, and Lord of the two Wests! 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 [yet] between them is a barrier which they may not transgress. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 25
