And whatever strikes you of disaster - it is for what your hands have earned; but He pardons much. 30 And you cannot escape in the earth; and you have neither a friend nor any supporter against Allah. 31 Further evidence (of His existence) are the ships which stand as mountains in the sea. 32 If He so wills, He can cause the winds to become still so that they will remain motionless on its surface. Surely there are many Signs in this for those who are wont to be steadfast and give thanks. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 Then those who wrangle about Our Signs will come to know that there is no escape for them. 35 That which has been given to you is only the wherewithal of the transient life of this world. But that which is with Allah is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 And (for) those who avoid cardinal sins and indecencies, and forgive (even) when they are angry. 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 and who, when insolence visits them, do help themselves -- 39 Let harm be requited by an equal harm. But whoever pardons and amends will find his reward with God. He does not love the wrongdoers. 40 Those who successfully defend themselves after being wronged will not be questioned. 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
