The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
