The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 by those who reprove severely, 2 and conveying [to all the world] a reminder: 3 Verily your God is One. 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything between them; Lord of the Easts. 5 He decked the nearest heavens with ornaments of stars, 6 And as protection against every rebellious devil 7 [so that] they [who seek to learn the unknowable] should not be able to overhear the host on high, but shall be repelled from all sides, 8 To make them flee, and for them is a never-ending punishment. 9 Some of them who stealthily steal words from the heavens are pursued by a glistening flame. 10 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), “Are they a stronger creation, or are other things of our creation, (the angels, the heavens etc.)?” We have indeed created them from sticky clay. 11 Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; 12 And when they are warned they pay no heed. 13 When they are shown a sign, they scoff at it 14 And they say: "This is nothing but evident magic! 15 “When we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, will we certainly be raised again?” 16 and perhaps also our forebears of old?" 17 You say: "Yes; and you will be lowly made." 18 So that is just a single jolt, thereupon they will begin staring. 19 and they will say: 'Woe for us. This is the Day of Recompense' 20 [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny." 21
