The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 By the book inscribed. 2 on fine parchment; 3 And the House frequented, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On that day they will be violently pushed into the fire 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
