Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 What makes you to know what the Resurrection Verifier is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Verily We! when the water rose, We bare you upon the traversing ark. 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 On that Day shall the (Great) Event come to pass. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and not known my reckoning! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 'Take him, and fetter him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 and he never urged the feeding of the needy; 34 So no friend has he here this Day, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
