And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: Surely I am clear of what you worship, 26 Save Him Who created me, for surely He will guide me. 27 And he made it a word enduring among his posterity; haply so they would return. 28 Yea, I have given the good things of this life to these (men) and their fathers, until the Truth has come to them, and a messenger making things clear. 29 And when there came to them the truth they said: This is magic, and surely we are disbelievers in it. 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 But is it they who distribute thy Sustainer's grace? [Nay, as] it is We who distribute their means of livelihood among them in the life of this world, and raise some of them by degrees above others, to the end that they might avail themselves of one another's help - [so, too, it is We who bestow gifts of the spirit upon whomever We will]: and this thy Sustainer's grace is better than all [the worldly wealth] that they may amass. 32 Were it not for the fear that all people would become one in disbelief, We would have made for the disbelievers in the Beneficent God ceilings out of silver and ladders by which they would climb up, 33 And doors (of silver) for their houses, (silver) couches for reclining, 34 And (other) embellishments of gold; and all this is naught but provision of this world's life, and the hereafter is with your Lord only for those who guard (against evil). 35
