The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Indeed, there came upon the human a period of time when he was an unremembered thing. 1 Verily We created man out of a drop of intermingled sperm so that We might try him, and We therefore endowed him with hearing and sight. 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 Those who fulfil their vows and fear the Day whose evil shall be diffused far and wide, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 They say to them, “We give you food, only for the sake of Allah – we do not seek any reward or thanks from you.” 9 we fear from our Lord a Day that shall be long and distressful.” 10 But Allah will deliver them from the evil of that Day, and will shed over them a Light of Beauty and (blissful) Joy. 11 And reward them for their perseverence Paradise and silken robes, 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 The shades of the garden will be closely spread over them and it will be easy for them to reach the fruits. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 (Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds). 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 On their bodies will be garments of the finest green silk and brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give them a purest draught to drink. 21 [And it will be said], "Indeed, this is for you a reward, and your effort has been appreciated." 22
