The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And your garments purify! 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
