The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 Thou, verily, O man, art working toward thy Lord a work which thou wilt meet (in His presence). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
