'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 Recall, when their brother Hud said to them: "Have you no fear? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 "Now fear Allah, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 "Verily, I fear for you the torment of a Great Day." 135 They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
