The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Most Merciful 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 Created man, 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 But observe the measure strictly, nor fall short thereof. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from clay like [that of] pottery. 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 23 His are the ships, towering on the sea like mountains. 24 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 25
