Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 when he said to his father and his people, 'What do you serve?' 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 “You and your forefathers preceding you.” 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And heals me when I am sick, 80 who makes me to die, then gives me life, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 and forgive my father; for he is one of the misguided; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
