And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said, "In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 The Day when neither wealth nor sons shall benefit 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 instead of God? Can these [things and beings] be of any help to you or to themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 Nor a close friend (to help us). 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Verily there is a sign in this, but many of them do not believe. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
