Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 I call to witness the lucent Book, 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And the Qur’an is undoubtedly, in the Original Book with Us, surely the exalted, full of wisdom. 4 Should We withdraw the admonition from you because you are a people far gone in transgression? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 No Prophet came to them whom they did not mock. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 Who sent down water in due measure from the sky, then quickened a region that was dead -- So shall We bring you forth -- 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they attribute to some of His servants a share with Him (in his godhead)! truly is man a blasphemous ingrate avowed! 15
