The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Bethink men that they shall be left alone because they say: we believe; and that they shall not be tempted? 2 We had certainly tried those who lived before them to make sure who were truthful in their faith and who were liars. 3 Or bethink those who work ill deeds that they shall outstrip Us? Ill do they judge! 4 Whoever expects to meet Allah – then indeed the time appointed by Allah will come; and He is the All Hearing, the All Knowing. 5 He who strives does so for himself. Verily God is independent of the creatures of the world. 6 And whosoever believe and work righteous works, We shall purge away from them their ill-deeds and shall recompense them the best of that which they have been working. 7 And upon man We ordained kindness towards parents; and if they strive to make you ascribe a partner with Me, about which you do not have any knowledge, then do not obey them; towards Me only is your return and I will tell you what you used to do. 8 And those who believe and work righteous works - We shall surely cause them to enter among the righteous. 9 Some people say, "We have faith in God." But when they face some hardship for His cause, they begin to consider the persecution that they have experienced from people as a torment from God. When your Lord grants you a victory, they say, "We were with you." Does God not know best what is in the hearts of every creature? 10 And most certainly Allah will know those who believe and most certainly He will know the hypocrites. 11 Those who deny say to those who affirm: "Follow our way; we shall carry the burden of your sins." But they cannot carry the burden of their sins in the least. They are liars indeed. 12 They will certainly carry their own burdens and other burdens besides their own. They will assuredly be called to account on the Day of Resurrection concerning the fabrications which they contrived. 13
