The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 This is the Book; there is no doubt in it. It is a guide for those who are mindful of God, 2 who believe in the unseen, establish the Salats and expend (in Our way) out of what We have bestowed on them; 3 And who believe in this (Qur’an) which has been sent down upon you, O beloved Prophet, (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) and what was sent down before you; and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful. 5 Those who deny your message will not believe whether you warn them or not 6 Allah hath sealed their hearing and their hearts, and on their eyes there is a covering. Theirs will be an awful doom. 7
