And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow up for him a gourdplant. 146 We sent him to a hundred thousand or more people. 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Pay heed! It is their slander that they say. – 151 "God has begotten [a son]"; and verily, they are lying [too, when they say,] 152 Does He prefer sons to daughters? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or have you received some clear authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 They claim that He has kinship with the jinn, yet the jinn themselves know that they will be produced before Him [for judgement]. 158 Glorified be Allah from that which they attribute (unto Him), 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 Except the one who will go into the blazing fire. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]. 165 We glorify God." 166 They used to say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 but they have rejected it, [the Quran] and they shall soon learn! 170 And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn) 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 What, do they seek to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it descends into their courtyard, it will be terrible for those who have already been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Exalted be your Lord, the Lord of Glory, above what they attribute to Him, 180 and peace be upon the Messengers, 181 And all praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds! 182
