And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and we remain constantly in attendance on them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, we found our fathers doing so. 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 "Who has created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 “My Lord, bestow me the command and join me with those who deserve your proximity.” 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 For, [on that Day,] paradise will be brought within sight of the God-conscious, 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then will they be hurled therein, they and the seducers 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And lo, thy Lord! He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
